While being the least popular of the Skyline GTR series, the R33 GTR is still rising in value almost as quickly as the R32 and R34.
Clean and original R33 GTR examples with decent kms are becoming increasingly difficult to find out of Japan.
Collectors sourcing these commonly ask for one or more of three main criteria:
-
1997 / 1998 model
-
VSpec
-
Purple
On top of this of course, virtually every buyer wants less than 100,000 km, some form of service records, no past repairs or rust, and a non-smoker car.
So if you have an R33 GTR that matches any or all of these criteria, our suggestion would be to hang onto it tight for a few years yet !
While prices have already doubled in the last year or two for the most sought after specs, prices are still increasing worldwide – with sales in Japan leading the way and other countries following suit.
This rare 1996 R33 GTR VSpec in purple with 84,643 km passed in unsold at USS Nagoya auction in Japan yesterday.
With the last bid at around 3.3 million Yen FOB equivalent or roughly $51,000 complied in Aust., that puts the current market price of a purple VSpec collector car with under 100,000 km at around $55K to $60K on road in Aust.
If you’re keen on this one, it may come back for auction next week.
