This RARE 1990 Nissan Skyline R32 GTR NISMO was inspected for a client at USS Tokyo auction on 5 October 2017. Build #111 / 560.

Graded 3.5 B, we thought it was worth a closer look. The auction report noted both front inside panels repaired due to rust, hole in front inside panel, rear floor repaired due to rust, crack in the windscreen etc.

On inspection the vehicle was very untidy, painted black to cover rust in a number of places. Poorly repaired. And just appeared to be poorly maintained. Faded along the edge of the roof. Cracks in the front bumper, worn steering wheel and dirty seats.

It also had a hole in the roof lining and a large crack in the windscreen requiring replacement.

Certainly not the quality of vehicle an enthusiast would want to buy.

Sadly as time goes on we are finding the condition of a greater number of GTR’s at auction to be quite poor like this one, including major rust problems.

This is another good example of why every vehicle MUST be inspected in person.  Grading means very little and does not tell you what you need to know about the true condition.

After seeing the extent of the problems with this vehicle we stopped the inspection with some pictures of the major faults, and didn’t go any further.

We only source the best vehicles with clean and tidy interiors, and only vehicles we would be pleased to own ourselves. This is why we are constantly told by clients that the vehicles we source are well above the condition of most others on the local market.

The pictures are typical of the information we provide prior to auction for each vehicle of interest, with any faults shown so you can clearly see the condition before we discuss whether to bid, and your budget.

Whether you’re looking for a 1990 Nissan Skyline R32 GTR NISMO like this, or another year, make or model, we can find it for you in nice condition.

It is vital when sourcing your vehicle to use an agent that takes the time to physically check each vehicle and looks beyond the auction pictures and report to confirm condition. Some vehicles may have an unpleasant smoke or other odour, rust underneath, or other faults which are impossible to know without inspection.
