Past repair history with a number of repaired areas noted on the auction sheet. On inspection though the repairs appeared professional and there was no noticeable rust or damage. It had been 3 different colours, originally red, then a darker brown / bronze colour, then painted white sometime in the last few years. The paint was pretty well done for Japan, with the inside of the door openings and hinges painted etc. (but not the engine bay which is typical).
Body only had a few touched up chips, basic scratches and door dings but nothing major.
Dash was quite cracked which is quite common for this model / age. Aftermarket driver’s seat had a small split at the top near the headrest. Front carpets and trim were present but the rear carpets and trims were missing. Chip on the bottom of the windscreen.
This vehicle sold for 902,000 YEN FOB. Total price in Australia at that time would have been approx. $15,700 plus $1,000 to $1,200 compliance allowance, plus tyres if required and ORC’s (calculated at a rate of 84 yen to the dollar).
We only source the best vehicles with clean and tidy interiors, and only vehicles we would be pleased to own ourselves. This is why we are constantly told by clients that the vehicles we source are well above the condition of most others on the local market.

The pictures are typical of the information we provide prior to auction for each vehicle of interest, with any faults shown so you can clearly see the condition before we discuss whether to bid, and your budget.
It is vital when sourcing your vehicle to use an agent that takes the time to physically check each vehicle and looks beyond the auction pictures and report to confirm condition. Some vehicles may have an unpleasant smoke or other odour, rust underneath, or other faults which are impossible to know without inspection.

Geoff was my knight in shining armour, my guardian angel and my saviour when it came to sourcing and purchasing my Toyota Welcab in Japan. I speak Japanese and lived in Japan for many years but I didn’t know the first thing about how to get a car to Australia!
Geoff generously, tirelessly and patiently shared his sage wisdom and advice, helping me navigate the auction process as well as giving me the tips and tricks to buy directly from a dealer then export, since I really had to see and try the car to be sure it would suit my needs. The service from Geoff’s service providers has also been second to none – the export agent, shipping/import agent and compliance shop have all been efficient, responsive and respectful. My 2021 Toyota Sienta Type III is arriving any day now and I can’t wait to try it out! Geoff, I just want to fly to Perth and give you a big, warm hug! 🙂 Thank you so, so much!
