Subaru XV hybrid Import Information and SEVS import eligibility for Australia
June 2013 to Feb 2020 Subaru Impreza XV hybrids (GPE model code) can be imported to Australia.
The Subaru Impreza XV is well known in Australia with the petrol-only versions being a popular model here for many years.
The Subaru XV hybrid is an all wheel drive 2L petrol hybrid four-door wagon with permanent magnet AC synchronous motor, lineartronic CVT, nickel metal hydride batteries, and 225/55 R17 tyres.
It is Subaru’s first hybrid model and was sold as the Subaru Crosstrek in other markets such as the USA and Canada.
Subaru XV hybrid model options in Japan include:
Hybrid 4WD 2.0I
Hybrid 4WD 2.0I-L
Hybrid 4WD 2.0I-S
Hybrid 4WD 2.0I-L Eyesight
Hybrid 4WD 2.0I-L Eyesight Proud Edition
Leather was a factory option.
The Subaru XV hybrid features Subaru’s Eyesight safety system which detects potential collisions and takes active measures to prevent them.
Drivetrain
4-cylinder 2.0L boxer petrol engine plus electric motor
Transmission Lineartronic CVT automatic with manual mode.
Fuel economy
The hybrid XV uses idle-stop and regenerative braking for improved fuel economy.
Fuel consumption is improved compared with the non-hybrid Impreza XV by approx. 11%, from 8.4 L/100 km (11.9 km/L) combined city/highway in the non-hybrid to 7.6 L/100 km (13.15 km/L) in the XV hybrid.
Power
160 HP (119 kW) total power output.
The 10 kW (13.6 PS / 13.4 HP) generator-motor is built into the lineartronic CVT and is primarily intended for acceleration assistance and regenerative braking (not long-range EV-only driving). It also acts as a starter motor and recharges the battery.
On battery power alone the range is estimated at just 1.6 km (40 km/h). If you are looking for a hybrid SUV with longer range that can be used as a full EV in real life driving check out the Toyota RAV4 PHEV which will do almost 100km on EV-only mode at speeds of up to 135 km/h.

Contact us for current availability and pricing if you would like to import Subaru XV hybrid to Australia.
Every vehicle of interest to our clients is carefully inspected in person at auction, with more pictures provided along with market pricing guidance to help set the budget.
There are a large number of Subaru XV import eligible models going through auction in Japan to choose from every week – we can assist with the entire process from choosing the best example to shipping it to Australia.
We specialise in direct car import from Japan and have been sourcing vehicles to order for private Australian buyers for over 25 years.
Every vehicle is hand-picked and we only source the very best.
We make Subaru XV import easy with physical inspections of vehicles by experienced staff at over 30 auctions every week in the Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe, and Kyushu / Fukuoka regions.
We start by focusing only on vehicles with the highest auction grades. But there is a LOT more involved than just basic auction grading !
Auction reports are often not reliable – we inspect every vehicle of interest in person to ensure it is up to our standard and has the options and features you want.
Most people (even Japanese export agents) do not realise that a significant % of vehicles in Japan are bought and sold by Japanese dealers for a quick profit between different auctions. If you are not aware of this you will almost certainly pay more than you needed to for exactly the same car.
Our experience with this situation alone will often save you more than the cost of our service fee.
Our import agent service includes a pre-check for past auction records using JCHC, at no cost to you. This allows us to rule out:
-
Cars recently auctioned and moved to a different auction for quick resale
-
Graded R (accident repair) cars changed to higher grades
-
Cars that have passed in unsold multiple times indicating a problem with the condition and/or price.
