Nissan Kicks Hybrid e-Power Import Information and SEVS import eligibility for Australia
The 2020+ Nissan Kicks hybrid e-Power (P15, RP15, SNP15) ‘subcompact crossover’ SUV can be imported to Australia from Japan in 2WD or 4WD.
The Kicks model has been produced by Nissan since 2016 and sold outside Japan with a standard petrol drivetrain. The Kicks e-Power was first introduced in Japan on 30 June 2020.
The Kicks e-Power uses 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine (HR12DE) producing 60kW (82 PS) @ 6000 rpm and 103 Nm torque @ 4800 rpm as a generator to charge the battery.
In the 2WD versions an electric motor (EM47) producing 100kW (136 PS) @ 3410 – 9697 rpm and 280 Nm torque @ 0 – 3410 rpm drives the front wheels and in 4WD versions an additional MM48 electric motor producing 50kW (68 PS) @ 4775 – 10259 rpm and 100 Nm torque @ 0 – 4775 rpm drives the rear wheels.
Related models are the 2016 to 2020 Nissan Note hybrid e-Power (HE12), 2020+ Nissan Note hybrid e-Power (E13, SNE13) 5-door hatchback, 2021+ Nissan Aura e-Power 1.2L (E13, SNE13) and Nissan Serena e-Power people mover.
The Kicks P15 and RP15 models are 2WD and the SNP13 model is 4WD.
Nissan’s e-Power system uses a 1.2L petrol engine to charge the battery which powers the electric motor/s. This is an extremely efficient hybrid system with exceptional fuel economy that sits between a full EV and normal hybrid system.
The Kicks features Nissan’s Zero Gravity seats, designed to enhance comfort and reduce fatigue. The car’s highly rigid platform gives it superior stability and maneuverability, and it is able to perform exceptionally tight turns on narrow roads or in cramped parking areas.
Kicks e-Power fuel economy (WLTC) from Nissan is 23.0 km/L (4.35 L/100 km) for the 2WD while the 4WD achieves 19.2 km/L (5.21 L/100 km).
The Kicks e-Power has all the driving benefits of electric power including instant acceleration, regenerative braking and quiet operation without the need to plug-in for recharge.
Kicks power delivery and regenerative braking is designed for a one-pedal-like driving experience.
The hybrid Kicks is equipped with Nissan’s 2nd generation e-POWER which is more powerful, smooth and quiet than the previous version.
How Nissan e-Power improves daily driving:
Nissan uses the same e-Power technology for a range of models in addition to the Kicks, including the Note, X-Trail, Aura and Serena.
Nissan e-Power technology explained:
The Kicks hybrid e-Power AWD models use dual electric motors (front and rear) to ‘give the driver enhanced control and acceleration’ in slippery conditions as well as everyday driving.

Contact us for current availability and pricing if you would like to import your own Kicks hybrid e-Power to Australia.
Every vehicle of interest to our clients is carefully inspected in person at auction, with more pictures provided along with market pricing guidance to help set the budget.
There is a good selection of Kicks hybrid 2WD and 4WD models going through auction in Japan every week – we can assist with the entire process from choosing the best example to shipping it to Australia.
We specialise in direct car import from Japan and have been sourcing vehicles to order for private Australian buyers for over 25 years.
Every vehicle is hand-picked and we only source the very best.
We make Nissan Kicks hybrid e-Power import easy with physical inspections of vehicles by experienced staff at over 30 auctions every week in the Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe, and Kyushu / Fukuoka regions.
We start by focusing only on vehicles with the highest auction grades. But there is a LOT more involved than just basic auction grading !
Auction reports are often not reliable – we inspect every vehicle of interest in person to ensure it is up to our standard and has the options and features you want.
Most people (even Japanese export agents) do not realise that a significant % of vehicles in Japan are bought and sold by Japanese dealers for a quick profit between different auctions. If you are not aware of this you will almost certainly pay more than you needed to for exactly the same car.
Our experience with this situation alone will often save you more than the cost of our service fee.
Our import agent service includes a pre-check for past auction records using JCHC, at no cost to you. This allows us to rule out:
-
Cars recently auctioned and moved to a different auction for quick resale
-
Graded R (accident repair) cars changed to higher grades
-
Cars that have passed in unsold multiple times indicating a problem with the condition and/or price.
Got my EVO 6.5 the other day, it was everything I hoped for and is in the process of getting a roadworthy at the moment.
The car has a couple of small things needing attention as described but otherwise it’s great, thanks for all your help Geoff. Do you know when it was last serviced ? The fluids look new so does the air filter !
