View full auction inspection pictures and details for this Porsche. This classic 1978 Porsche 911 SC Coupe was inspected for a client at USS Tokyo auction on 22 September 2016. Odometer was showing 67,975 km however this was not considered genuine based on overall condition. Auction grade was changed from 4 to R with an announcement on auction day -- front panel and left front inner had been repaired. Front panels and bumper had been painted at some time in the past and the front (non-original) bumper was faded. Front fenders, bonnet and driver's door were all quite wavy (orange peel due to lower quality repaint). Our agent thought the whole car had probably been repainted. Engine bay had oil leaks which are typical for Porsches and many other European cars of this age. It wasn't possible to be certain about where the oil was coming from without a more extensive mechanical inspection. No major rust in the body as far as could be determined. This 1978 Porsche 911 SC Coupe was eligible for import to Australia under the 1988 and older rule, and is typical of the condition we find many Porsches of this age to be in. It sold for 2,980,000 Yen FOB. Total price in Australia at the time would have been approx. $46,100 landed in Australia at the time plus approx. $1,000 compliance allowance, plus tyres if required and ORC's (calculated at 76.5 Yen to the dollar).
